Taiwanese Ice Cream Recommendation: ?Good X Everyday is Wonderful

This place, “?Good Pineapple Ice,” was originally a street vendor called “Pear Good” on Jincheng Road. It’s been on my list for ages, but—same old story—it’s too far from home, which makes it hard to muster the motivation. This summer has been insanely hot; we hit 35°C even before July. Life these days sure is tough, huh?

“?Good Pineapple Ice” is located on Xiangshang North Road in West District. I’m not too familiar with this area, but it seems to be inside a market.

I love the color scheme at the entrance—it’s like a giant pineapple, and it keeps reminding me of SpongeBob SquarePants.

It was midday on a weekend when I visited, and there weren’t many seats, so we had to wait a bit. While waiting, I looked around… and everything I saw looked so delicious that I wanted to eat it all right away.

In addition to ice desserts, they also sell pineapple jam and local-style pineapple tarts.

Menu… Prices range from $45 to $80. Some hot dishes are only available in winter, which is such a bummer… because I really wanted to try the noodle soup.

This girl snatched the menu and started marking random things. Thankfully, not everything we marked had to be ordered.

The shop only has three tables, and the front one can only seat two people, but most customers just get takeout.

How does she draw on the small chalkboard so well? Sigh—I’ve thought about… once Little Cherry starts kindergarten, should I find something to do? Then—I thought maybe I should learn something to avoid wasting my life, then—I wanted to learn photography, but now I want to learn painting instead. XD

Although the space isn’t big, they’ve added some small decorations to spruce up the place.

Taiwan Seasonal Fruit Ice – $65

I got the hami melon flavor, so there was a whole scoop of hami melon ice cream on top. The owner mentioned that I should eat the hami melon ice cream first because its flavor is lighter and can easily be overpowered by the pineapple.

Taste-wise… it really is light. At least it proves there are no artificial flavorings… XD. The texture is refreshing, not overly sweet, and it’s genuinely cooling. Whether you eat it alone or pair it with the pineapple ice, it’s really good.

Traditional Pineapple Ice – $45

As expected—this is their signature dish, so I had to try it.

Honestly, I used to get my mouth scratched by pineapple as a kid, so I stopped eating it for years. Only in the past couple of years, with more pineapple products on the market—and some even labeled as “local pineapple, no mouth-scratching”—did I slowly start trying it again. This traditional-style pineapple really is different; it’s sweet and tangy, with a strong pineapple aroma. It’s refreshing and easy on the palate, super smooth to eat.

Everything at “?Good Pineapple Ice” feels made with genuine care, and the prices aren’t outrageously high. It’s definitely a great choice if you’re craving ice desserts this summer.
