Not just Tamsui sunsets！ Eight stunning sunset photography spots

The warm glow of the setting sun captivates many couples and draws numerous photography enthusiasts eager to capture the ever-changing hues of dusk and the “magic hour.” Tamsui has long been a popular spot for watching the sun go down, but along Taiwan’s western coast there are also many places where the sunset views rival those of Tamsui. Below, we’ll share eight excellent spots for enjoying and photographing the sunset.

Zhuwei Fishing Port
Located in northern Taoyuan, Zhuwei Fishing Port has served as a filming location for idol dramas. The Rainbow Bridge within the port area is a major landmark and a great place in northern Taiwan to enjoy fresh seafood.

Fengkeng Fishing Port
Recently become an Instagram hotspot, Fengkeng Fishing Port has been abandoned due to silt accumulation and is no longer used as a fishing harbor. Though not as bustling as other tourist fishing ports, the rows of concrete breakwater blocks along the shore set against the setting sun make it not only a great place to watch the sunset but also an emerging hot spot for photography enthusiasts.

Gaomei Wetlands
Taichung’s Gaomei Wetlands, located on the southern side of the Qingshui Dajia River estuary, is a well-known spot for central Taiwanese to watch the sunset. Every year during autumn and winter, large numbers of migratory birds visit, making it a gathering place for birdwatchers. Stroll along the wooden boardwalk, watch the sunset slowly descend, and enjoy a rare moment of leisure.

Zongzi Cape Beach
Also a popular Instagram check-in spot, Zongzi Cape Beach gets its name from the abundance of breakwater blocks along the coastline. White wind turbines contrast with the ever-changing sky, and the colorful clouds make the sea-and-sky horizon even more spectacular.
