Its historic and cultural Karuizawa Highland Church holds an annual lighting ceremony (サマ0??悭螗丧毳圣ぅ醛, where thousands of candles are lit in front of the wooden church nestled in lush green mountains, making the summer evenings of August cool and bright. The “Candlelit Summer Nights” event (Summer Candle Night 2018/サマ0??悭螗丧毳圣ぅ醛) runs from August 1 to August 31
The “Candlelit Summer Nights” event (Summer Candle Night 2018), now in its 14th year, is themed “Passing On,” and features special experience events from August 13 to 17 that aim to continue conveying feelings to someone special.
This year’s theme, “Passing On,” focuses on continuing to convey feelings to someone special.
During the special experience period, there are many activities such as lantern walks, music services, and handwritten letters. Stroll through the forest of light holding lanterns with family, friends, or loved ones, where the twinkling lights seem to blend with the forest scenery. Warm and resonant blessing sounds echo through the trees, spreading emotions and creating a sense of happiness being with loved ones.
Lantern rentals are available for strolling through the forest of light with someone special.
