Pedestrians are supposed to use zebra crossings when crossing the street. To enhance pedestrian safety at intersections, the Tamsui District Office upgraded the ground-level zebra crossings through colorful painting. They aimed to create 3D-style zebra crossings to intensify visual impact, encouraging drivers to instinctively slow down, reminding vehicles to reduce speed when passing. This not only serves as a warning to cars to drive cautiously but also adds vibrancy to alleyways and streets.

The Tamsui District Office painted a 3D zebra crossing at the entrance and exit of the parking lot behind the Tamsui Citizens’ United Service Center. Drawing inspiration from overseas experiences in Europe, they piloted this at one intersection and will decide whether to expand the initiative based on the results. However, they also urge the public that taking photos on the road is very dangerous and safety must be prioritized. Avoid competing with vehicles for road space—otherwise, you might not only fail to take a good photo but also cause a traffic accident.
