Last-minute summer promotion: Tokyo 5-day trip with ¥8,000 discount, Hong Kong buy-one-get-one-free

The 2016 Taipei International Summer Travel Fair is set to unfold at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center from July 15 to 18. This year’s fair not only showcases autumn travel packages but also includes summer vacation itineraries for August trips. Industry insiders revealed that compared to the traditionally high prices of summer travel in previous years, this year’s prices have dropped instead of rising, making it an ideal opportunity for the public to snag the last wave of promotions.

This year’s Taipei International Summer Travel Fair features approximately 300 exhibitors, presenting overseas travel, souvenirs, domestic travel options, and more. It also coincides with the second edition of the Japan Tourism & Culture Expo. AKB48’s only foreign member, Matsuura Akari, is scheduled to meet fans alongside members Kuranoo Narumi and Sato Nanami at the Japan Tourism & Culture Expo on July 16, along with a handshake event.

In addition to classic Asian routes such as Japan, Southeast Asia, and autumn foliage tours—key sales highlights this year—long-haul destinations including the UK, Europe, and cruises are also major promotional focuses. Bestway Travel is offering Singapore group discounts for summer Southeast Asia trips, with savings of up to NT$9,000 per person, and a 4-day Nagoya free-and-easy package for NT$9,999. Canaan Star Travel is featuring sword lake tickets and a Hong Kong free-and-easy buy-one-get-one-free deal at the exhibition. Shinan Travel Agency has launched a K-drama-themed itinerary, allowing visitors to explore three filming locations of *Descendants of the Sun*. Longteng Travel is offering free-and-easy trips to Zhangjiajie, Tokyo, and Osaka starting from NT$9,800. Jidi Travel presents Vanilla Air’s Tokyo 5-day, 4-night free-and-easy package, starting at NT$7,999. Xihong Travel offers the “Summer Love Hokkaido” 5-day trip, starting at NT$25,800 (taxes included) at the travel fair.

For long-haul routes, options such as the 10-day UK-Netherlands-Belgium-France, 9-day UK, and 10-day UK-France itineraries are priced between NT$62,900 and NT$99,900. Coupled with the advantage of the pound’s depreciation, these are suitable for planning long-haul trips. Some operators also offer deals like NT$10,000 savings for the second traveler on long-haul routes. Cruise operators have designed a 12-day Caribbean itinerary with stays in 2-person inside cabins, starting at NT$59,900 per person.

For those who love Japanese culture, the Japan Tourism & Culture Expo, in addition to inviting AKB48 members, also features over 100 Japanese vendors and cultural exhibits in Taiwan, including elements like a giant koinobori tunnel and a Japanese food street. (Separate ticket required)
