Tainan is widely known as a food haven in Taiwan, famous not only for its delicious cuisine but also for its affordability. In the Confucius Temple commercial area on Fuzhong Street, there’s an oden shop that has been around for over 30 years, serving oden sticks at just 2 yuan each, attracting many visitors to try them, making it a popular spot in the area.

“Taiwan 2-yuan Oden” is located at the intersection of Zhong Street and Kaishan Road. What started as a small stall has been transformed into a store with a nostalgic vibe. Alongside its signature oden, it also offers a variety of oden ingredients. Pricing is divided into short skewers for 2 yuan, and longer skewers marked with a red dot for 5 yuan—you can pick whatever you like.
Besides oden, they also serve grilled oden.
In addition to oden, there's grilled oden too. The charcoal-grilled section features small squid, dried fish, and large skewers of oden grilled to order for just 30 yuan. The broth for the oden is free and self-serve. After selecting your oden, head to the dipping sauce station where pre-prepared sauces include soy paste, spicy sweet sauce, and satay powder.
The shop’s cold cucumber salad and plum juice are very appetizing.
Aside from oden and grilled items, the shop also offers cucumber and plum juice. After eating, place used bamboo skewers in the iron bucket on the table, then bring them all to the counter to pay. Eating while playing makes for a fun experience.
