United Digital Culture has joined forces with the State Russian Museum to present the “Leisurely Scenery Painting – State Russian Museum Special Exhibition.” The exhibition showcases 65 masterpieces of landscape painting from the 17th to 20th centuries, including works by 48 great artists such as Monet, Renoir, and Rousseau. It grandly opened at the National Palace Museum on November 17.
Monet’s “Luncheon on the Grass” is making its first appearance in Taiwan, allowing viewers to feel his deep affection for his wife through the painting.
Among them, Monet’s “Luncheon on the Grass,” making its Taiwan debut, is the highlight of the exhibition. From his passionate romance with his wife Camille to her passing due to illness, she appears in nearly every one of his paintings. In “Luncheon on the Grass,” the woman in profile on the far left is Camille, and on the large tree trunk on the right, you can even see Monet’s depiction of a “love arrow piercing the heart,” offering a profound glimpse into his deep love for his wife.

The “Pushkin Special Exhibition” is divided into six major themes: the origins of modern landscape painting, praise of nature, the light and shadows of Paris, the natural scenery of the suburbs, the bright landscapes of southern France, and the exotic worlds overseas. Additionally, designs such as floor decals and three-dimensional installations of “Luncheon on the Grass” have been created, embarking on pop-up tours across major department stores in the Greater Taipei area. This allows the artworks to reach the public, giving people a chance to preview the classics and immerse themselves in an omnipresent artistic atmosphere before the official opening.

The Pushkin Museum is to Moscow what the British Museum is to London and the Louvre is to Paris. It is renowned for its collection of foreign art and French masterpieces. While admiring the paintings in the exhibition, it’s like strolling through the elegance and romance of France.
