These winds sweep across two persimmon processing farms in Hsinchu, turning them into a sea of gold. Countless golden persimmons are laid out on racks breathing in the sunshine, soaking up the sunbath, resembling golden orbs that create a limited-edition autumn spectacle.

Located in Hanhang, Xinpian, Weiweijia Persimmon Orchard boasts over 200 persimmon trees. From mid-September to January of the following year during harvest season, ripe persimmons cover the mountains in a sea of red. Using sun-drying and carbon-roasting methods, they produce a variety of dried persimmons. After a series of complex processes including repeated sun-drying, carbon roasting, and kneading, it takes about two weeks to create high-quality dried persimmons.

The farm mainly processes persimmons into dried persimmons using Shishi, Niuxin, and Bishi varieties. In addition to offering dried persimmons, persimmon leather, and persimmon frost, you can also try persimmon chicken soup for health, persimmon ice pops with dried persimmon bits, and more. There are also hands-on experiences such as persimmon dyeing, pottery painting, making persimmon dolls, and hand-weaving persimmon crafts—making it an unmissable autumn travel activity.

Also located in Hanhang, Xinpian, Jinhhan Persimmon Drying Educational Farm not only supplies dried persimmons, persimmon leather, and persimmon frost, but also offers DIY persimmon dyeing experiences, and handmade items like persimmon-dyed pencil cases and tote bags. There are also industry and ecological explanations about persimmon ecology, the persimmon drying process, and related knowledge.

Persimmon dyeing uses the peel trimmed during persimmon processing as natural dye for fabrics. You can also use persimmon juice, etc. Depending on the purpose, different techniques, patterns, and sizes can be applied. It can be done individually or as a group project.
