The “Taichung Light & Shadow Art Festival” is jointly organized by the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau and Urban Development Bureau. This year’s festival theme is “Station Together • Blossom Bright.” From October 19 to 21 over three nights, every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM at half-hour intervals, on the square in front of the old railway station, stunning 3D light projection shows, engaging light-shadow interactive art installations, and interactive light games portray the architectural outlines of the first and second-generation old railway stations, illuminating the traces of a century of history.

“Launch • Green Sky 1908” takes place daily from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the old railway station and along the Green Sky Railway, featuring urban vision exhibitions such as green sky vision models and sand table light projections, as well as exciting activities like markets and concerts. It has been 110 years since the Western Trunk Line of the railway was opened in 1908. Special musical guests including Eggplant Egg, Rural Armed Youth, Feng Heyi Ri Li – Qi Ge, Little Eagle Band, Bike Band, and Paisei Boys will connect across a century of time and space through music.

Other exciting activities include the adorable and healing installation art “Flower 0? Appen,” which features giant puppets combined with vibrant visual changes. The interaction between swiftly moving people and stationary installations creates fun engagement and fosters warm connections among people. The light-shadow interactive game “Flower Welcome” uses the childlike, tactile illustrations by artist BaNAna (Ah Banana), combined with multimedia interactive technology, allowing audiences to walk on a giant flower carpet and use body movements to trigger fields of blooming flowers.

A river lighting concert is held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on October 27 at the Liuchuan Water Stage (Minzu Road–Zhongshan Road), echoing the three life values of the flower expo while also conveying the importance of protecting river water resources. Multiple artists are invited to create environmental art using the two rivers as the venue. At 6:30 PM on the same day, a folk song concert “Listen and Sing with the People” is also held in Taichung Park, featuring performances by singers such as Zheng Yi, Southern Duo, and Shi Xiaorong.
From October 27 to January 1, 2019, Liuchuan and Liuyuchuan host art light scenery exhibitions, adding a more romantic and poetic atmosphere to the rivers at night.
