Travel to Japan’s Universal Studios after entering or leaving China — Tigerair Taiwan takes off with 180 passengers on the Taipei–Okayama route

Tigerair Taiwan officially launched its Taipei–Okayama route today (July 14), operating at full capacity with 180 passengers, becoming the first Taiwanese low-cost carrier to operate direct flights from Taoyuan Airport to Okayama, Japan. Passengers on the inaugural flight also received exclusive souvenirs, including a limited-edition inaugural postcard, a commemorative Japanese handkerchief, and an Okayama travel guide.

Okayama is Tigerair Taiwan’s eighth destination in Japan and the 10th route for the airline offering round-trip passenger services between Taiwan and Japan. A celebratory ceremony was held at Okayama International Airport today, featuring a traditional water-sprinkling ritual. Participants included Okayama Prefecture Governor Ryuta Ibaragi, Tigerair Taiwan CEO Kuan Hsu, and the airport’s mascot Momotaro, all of whom joined the inauguration event.

Tigerair Taiwan noted that Okayama serves as the gateway to the Chugoku region of Japan. Thanks to its favorable location within the Seto Inland Sea climate zone, the area produces premium-quality grapes and white peaches. Nearby attractions include Korakuen Garden—one of Japan’s three most famous gardens—Kurashiki, known for its Edo-period charm, and Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year also marks the triennial Setouchi Triennale international art festival, which is expected to draw large numbers of visitors.
