This summer, the “Itō Junji’s Horror Experience Exhibition – The Desperate Escape” was a huge hit in Taipei, prompting plans to start a new chapter at the end of 2018 across the year-end. The exhibition will return to Kaohsiung’s Pier-2 Art Center, with ticket sales starting on November 1st via Books.com.tw, ibon, and udn. Single-venue tickets, double-venue tickets, and advance double-venue tickets for two people are available, along with early bird gifts before the exhibition period begins.

Before transitioning from the Taipei stop to the Kaohsiung stop, an Halloween Eve warm-up party was held on the weekend night of October 27th at FRANK, a landmark nightclub in Taipei. The stylish venue was infused with Itō Junji’s horror world, transforming the nightclub into a trial ground for a terrifying experience.

From the entrance, visitors can see the beautiful portrait of “The Painter” Tomie and the classical purple sofa she once sat on; surrounding glass curtains and mirrored pillars are adorned with classic lines from “Tomie,” with splashes of blood everywhere. Then, entering a corridor draped with blood-stained, layered white fabrics, it features a promotional wall with dialogue from Itō Junji and content from the “Tomie” manga.

On the rooftop bar, there are large installations with fluttering black-and-white drapes, exuding an eerie altar-like atmosphere. The surrounding grass area features countless hands emerging from the ground, and the final small room is cluttered with desks, chairs, chalkboards, as well as blood-stained test papers and notebooks, creating a chilling, apocalyptic vibe.

The venue became a live-action drama of endless entanglements between numerous Tomies and their victimized schoolmates, all while guests sipped on the endlessly multiplying, crimson and aromatic “Tomie Special” cocktails.
