The "Wander Through Landscape Painting – Special Exhibition from Russia’s Pushkin Museum," jointly organized by the National Palace Museum, the Pushkin Museum, and United Digital Culture, grandly opened on November 17th. The highlight of this exhibition is the classic Impressionist masterpiece "Luncheon on the Grass" by Monet.
The Pushkin Museum special exhibition is being held on the first floor of the National Palace Museum’s Library and Information Building.
This exhibition features works by 48 master artists, including Monet, Renoir, and Rousseau. The Pushkin Museum, located in Moscow, Russia, is renowned for its collection of French artistic treasures. This time, it has specially gathered famous landscape paintings from the 17th to the 20th century, inviting everyone to share and immerse themselves in the elegance and romance of France.
"Luncheon on the Grass" is the only painting by Monet housed in the Pushkin Museum.
Monet painted "Luncheon on the Grass" at the age of 26. The artwork depicts a leisurely late summer to early autumn scene where a group of people gather in the Forest of Fontainebleau to enjoy a carefree moment, having lunch together while chatting softly — perfectly capturing the picnic trend that was popular in 19th-century Europe.
