A stationary front extends from Fujian southwestward to Guangxi, while a high-pressure system is over the Anhui area, moving eastward. There is also a tropical depression southeast of Palau, moving westward at 15 km/h, with potential to develop into a mild typhoon.
On Monday morning, the 19th, as the frontal system passes and the northeast monsoon strengthens, northern and northeastern Taiwan, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will experience brief showers. Localized short-term rain is also expected in eastern, southeastern, central, and mountainous southern areas.
With the strengthening northeast monsoon, the weather in the north and northeast will be slightly cooler, with temperatures around 21–23°C. Temperatures in central and southern Taiwan will be higher, ranging between 22–28°C. On Thursday, temperatures across the island will drop by another 1–2°C, and starting Friday, areas that have been rainy will gradually clear up.
