The “2018 Shilin Official Residence Chrysanthemum Exhibition” grandly opened on November 30th. To celebrate this annual floral event, the Taipei City Government has created special floral art designs this year, including an 8-meter-tall Eiffel Tower and a 5-meter-tall giraffe topiary, presenting a magnificent and spectacular landscape.

This year’s Shilin Official Residence Chrysanthemum Exhibition is themed “A Journey Through the World of Chrysanthemums.” It combines large chrysanthemum displays, shaped chrysanthemums, and chrysanthemum species with the seven continents, interpreting the characteristics of different countries and recreating the most iconic landmarks from around the world. The exhibition area integrates scenes representing various nations, making it incredibly beautiful.
This exhibition centers around chrysanthemums while incorporating elements from around the globe.
Taiwan’s “Alishan Highland Forest Area” features a replica Alishan Forest Railway paired with local plants such as Alishan oil chrysanthemums, mountain chrysanthemums, and Wasabi, showcasing the picturesque and majestic scenery of Alishan; the “Romantic Chanson Area” pairs chrysanthemums with an 8-meter-tall Eiffel Tower, inviting flower admirers to experience the romance of France.

In the “Japanese Flair, Deep Chrysanthemum Affection Area,” nearly 2-meter-tall Momotaro chrysanthemum topiaries and chrysanthemum human figures are paired with Japanese lanterns and fans, allowing visitors to feel the charm of Japan without traveling there; the “Polar Scenery Area” showcases the icy landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic through the adorable sight of polar bears playing in ice igloos surrounded by chrysanthemums.

The “African Savannah Legend Area” features a 5-meter-tall giraffe topiary, allowing exhibition-goers to experience the wild charm of Africa. Aside from taking you on a journey around the world, the star of the chrysanthemum exhibition—the large chrysanthemum displays—are the result of two years of dedicated cultivation by the park authorities, so don’t miss them.
