RIMOWA’s German parent company was acquired by LVMH Group at the end of 2016, becoming part of the LVMH portfolio. As a result, there were changes to the distribution rights originally held by the local agent, Qing Zhen International. Starting from November 2017, Qing Zhen International stopped receiving new stock and could only maintain operations with existing inventory. Many stores faced the dilemma of having no products to sell or insufficient supply.
As a result, Qing Zhen International decided to gradually close RIMOWA’s retail outlets across Taiwan, keeping only the founding store on Ren’ai Road, which will serve as a repair center to continue providing maintenance services to customers. The company is also in ongoing discussions with the German parent company to protect customer interests.
