There’s nothing more frustrating when traveling than having to rush to the airport hours in advance just to queue up for check-in and check your luggage — it’s simply not cost-effective. But now, when you book flights with ANA All Nippon Airways, you can enjoy your time to the fullest while others are stuck in long check-in lines. Recently, ANA has installed five self-bag drop machines at Tokyo Haneda Airport. Along with the self-check-in kiosks, you can now handle both check-in and baggage drop by yourself in just a few minutes, maximizing convenience and true independence.

Three simple steps to use the self-bag drop machine
The touch screen of the self-bag drop machine supports Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese (both simplified and traditional), and the operation is very straightforward — you can check in your luggage in as little as one minute.
- Place your luggage properly in the designated area as shown on the screen.
- Take out your boarding pass and have it scanned by the self-bag drop machine.
- The machine will automatically print your baggage tag, which you can then attach to your luggage.
After completing these three steps, the machine door will close (unless there's an issue), and you’ll receive a baggage receipt. The machine also scans for prohibited items inside your luggage, and if any are detected, it will automatically alert the staff.
ANA says it hopes to increase the number of self-bag drop machines to 39 within this year, but for now, they are only available at Tokyo Haneda Airport, as well as airports in Germany and the Netherlands. Other airports will have to wait a bit longer.
