Traveling to New Zealand, Viewing glaciers is one of the highlights. is definitely from the air,, and even more perfect is landing on the glacier., Hiking on the glacier(snow landing), From the air,! the main options are, small planes or helicopters. Lake Tekapo Village

Lake Tekapo There were a lot of tourists, It's a world-famous stargazing destination, The Shepherd’s Church, often seen on postcards, is also here.Mount JohnThe observatory is on the nearby mountain, where you can join a stargazing tour at night.

are located in areas inaccessible by road., The Tasman Glacier is the longest glacier in New Zealand, 

and can be viewed from the end by boat departing from Aoraki / Mount Cook. To see its origin, you’ll need to take a flight.: This trip also offers a close-up view of New Zealand’s two highest peaks,Aoraki / Mount Cook and Mount Tasman, as well asMount La Perouse)Mount La Perouse ( 

.The plane flies slowly to allow passengers to clearly observe the scenery along the way. When approachingAoraki / Mount Cook and the three major glaciers,360it will even make a slow, 360-degree turnto ensure that everyonegets a good view. 

Taking photos through the small windows, while avoiding aircraft structures, makes composition quite a challenge., You also need to be quick with your camera,, as many beautiful sights appear only briefly. Shooting through the glass also affects color and image quality,, but it’s still acceptable,, since you wouldn’t be able to capture these views without taking the flight. 

The plane will fly over New Zealand's Westland National Park. The weather is great., You can also see the coastline of western New Zealand in the distance. Both the Franz Josef Glacier and the Fox Glacier are located in Westland., At the base of the glaciers, there is a temperate rainforest that connects to the west.

If you plan to drive to see them,the Franz Josef Glacier and the Fox Glacier,it requires a very long drive. There aren’t many other attractions on the West Coast., The weather is also quite unstable. The temperate rainforest receives up to5meters of rainfall annually., So, it’s really not easy to get good weather in the west. I didn’t go to the west on my first trip to New Zealand. On my second trip, I spent an entire day driving out there., I was full of hope to take a helicopter tour and land on the glacier, but unfortunately, the trip was canceled due to rain.

A glacier is a river made of ice., It is covered in snow year-round,, goes through compaction,, crystallization,, and then refreezing to form..Glaciers move slowly under their own weight and the force of gravity., They create significant friction with the ground,, grinding rocks into gravel. Different parts of the glacier move at varying speeds,, which causes cracks, and folds.

The base of the Tasman Glacier is an ice lake., The glacier lake formed in1999and has been growing ever since., There are many large ice blocks on the lake., You can take a boat to view the base of the glacier. However, near the part of the glacier that meets the lake, there are many rock fragments on the ice,, making it grayish-black in color, and not very pretty. 

We flew back to Lake Tekapo.

This time, the weather for the glacier flight tour was absolutely perfect., The scenery is absolutely stunning., Diverse and ever-changing., With blue skies,, white clouds,, snow-capped mountains,, glaciers,, valleys,, glacial lakes,, lakes,, rainforests,, and coastlines., Magnificent views that are completely out of sight from the ground., It’s a truly rare journey.!
