For years, the Hokkaido Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU has attracted visitors to its cloud observation deck, where you can get up close to drifting clouds. But starting September 1 this year, an even more eye-catching platform will make its debut.
Dubbed “Cloud Walk,” this platform offers a 210-degree view of the sea of clouds, delivering an even more breathtaking visual experience.
This 200-meter-long walkway is intentionally built on a slope, designed with winding decks. When the sea of clouds floats within the 10-meter elevation difference, it creates an illusion of walking above the clouds. Moreover, the walkway was conceived to allow visitors to enjoy a stroll amidst the sea of clouds.
To access this walkway and see the sea of clouds, timing is key. The sea of clouds can typically be seen from May to October each year, but only about 40% of the time. You may choose to stay at the Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU located at the mountain’s base, as the hotel lobby provides advance forecasts of daily sunrise times and the probability of sea of clouds occurrences. Then, at sunrise, simply turn on the TV in your room and tune in to the resort’s broadcast channel to watch real-time footage from the mountaintop cloud viewing platform. When the screen displays the message 【Now, the sea of clouds is beautifully forming】, you can head straight to take the cable car up the mountain. Non-guests can also purchase tickets and hike up as usual.
