Kaohsiung adds another dreamy photo spot, with as many as 2,000 brightly colored umbrellas hanging high in the sky. The rainbow-hued sky looks incredibly beautiful under the sunlight.

Located in Kaohsiung’s Houyi commercial district, efforts have been made in recent years to transform and revitalize the area through local initiatives and branding, aiming to boost foot traffic.
The highly photogenic rainbow umbrella backdrop is expected to attract more visitors to the area.
From November each year to April of the following year, the Houyi commercial district hangs multicolored rainbow umbrellas between buildings along the streets to create a unique district identity.
The Houyi commercial district in the evening also takes on a distinctive charm thanks to the rainbow umbrellas in the sky.
Houyi is the largest garment wholesale market in southern Taiwan. The “Umbrellas Shine Together” rainbow umbrella street installation officially launched in December and will run until February 28 of next year. It aims not only to attract visitors for photos but also to boost surrounding businesses.
The streets of the commercial district adorned with rainbow umbrellas have a distinct image and strong visual impact.
The rainbow umbrella art installation in the district is created using umbrellas painted by the public and a large number of rainbow-themed artistic umbrellas. After the exhibition, they will be donated to the metro authority, Taiwan Railways, and police stations as charity umbrellas, extending the value of the umbrellas.
