If you’ve ever owned a dog, you’ll surely understand the helplessness of wanting to go out but ultimately not feeling at ease leaving your furry friend in someone else’s care. Even when traveling, most people opt for just a few days on short trips. Or perhaps you could take inspiration from American illustrator John Stortz and his two-year journey with his adopted sled dog, Wolfgang.
Putting down his paintbrush and picking up a camera, the man and his dog traveled across major landmarks in the United States. Wolfgang acted like a model, expertly posing and striking expressive looks — such as gazing toward distant towns and mountain views, sitting in the middle of a highway, crossing lakes, or standing atop ridges. From the loneliest highways in North America to the Grand Canyon in Colorado, and then to the Great Salt Lake in Utah, he’s probably seen more than most other dogs.
John Stortz uploads his photos to his Instagram, which has now garnered over 50,000 followers. Who knows if his next stop might cross the ocean to Hong Kong?
