Latest wedding attraction in Guam: New museum with blue light shining through tree leaves

Guam has a brand-new spot for wedding photos and ceremonies. The newly opened "Guam Museum" is set to debut before the end of 2016. Although called a museum, it features a uniquely localized design style that creates a stunning triangular roof with light filtering through as if from interlaced tree leaves. The colorful light inside is truly breathtaking.

The "Guam Museum" is located near Skinner Plaza and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guam. Its interior is currently in the final stages of renovation. Cliff Guzman, the preparatory manager of the Guam Museum, said the museum’s exterior was designed by local architect Andy. Before entering the museum, visitors will see a giant book representing Guam’s history, with the triangular shape above symbolizing the commonly seen interlaced tree leaves in Guam. The glass panels in between allow the sunlight to shine through the gaps in the leaves, casting beautiful colors inside.

The Guam Museum is expected to officially open by the end of 2016. Inside, there will be a café, classrooms, and exhibition spaces. Cliff Guzman noted that part of the space will be designed to resemble a jungle-like natural environment, showcasing Guam’s records, wildlife, and even a Guam Story Room that presents the island’s immigration history to more visitors.

In addition to exhibition areas, the Guam Museum also offers wedding venues that can accommodate 200 to 300 people. Weddings can be held in the open space at the back or on the second floor. The museum space, filled with Guam’s history and romantic ambiance, is expected to attract many couples.
