Friends often ask me about good hotels in Taipei or places worth visiting. But to be honest, every time I come to Taipei, I mostly hang out with old friends and have meals together. Just like the recent weekend, I went to Taipei to unwind and also held a new book sharing event in Taiwan while I was at it.
In recent years, Taipei has seen the emergence of many hipster hotspots, such as the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and the Huashan 1914 Creative Park. These are all carefully planned by the local authorities and often host art exhibitions, making them great destinations for those interested in such things.
Within Taipei city, if you’re looking to take some aesthetic photos, I recommend visiting Da’an Forest Park. It’s just a short walk from the MRT station and very convenient. It’s said that when the flowers are in bloom, the park turns into a sea of blossoms. Even when there are no flowers, it remains a wonderful place to relax.
This time, I’d also like to introduce a café near Taipei Main Station called “MaySpace.” Located right next to the North Gate, it’s in a very convenient spot, though it used to be hidden among the urban landscape due to an elevated road in the area.
As the name suggests, “MaySpace” is a travel-themed café. It stocks a selection of travel books, and the owner is continuously sourcing unique items from different parts of the world, aiming to let everyone here soak in the essence of traveling.
During my visit to Taipei this time, I also held a new book sharing event at this bookstore, introducing my previously published book *Starting with a Love for Travel*. I remember the first time I came to Taiwan, my Chinese was terrible—I couldn’t even say “MRT station.” Who would’ve thought I’d now be holding a sharing event here? My Chinese still isn’t great, but it was a joyful experience nonetheless.
Next time you go to Taipei, feel free to check it out. My book is even on the shelves there, haha!
