In this world, there are many deserts and many snow-capped mountains. But if you want to experience a world covered in snow, you’ll need to head to frigid snowy peaks. Alternatively, stepping into a desert can also plunge you into a white wonderland.
This white desert is located in the state of New Mexico, USA. It is said that a long, long time ago, this area was an inland sea. Over time, the seawater gradually receded, leaving behind minerals such as calcium and sulfur, which then formed layers of gypsum rock. The region once received abundant rainfall, leading to the formation of lakes in low-lying areas. However, as rainfall decreased, the water evaporated, and the gypsum crystals that had settled at the bottom of the lakes dissolved. Combined with weathering and other processes, this created the small white particles—now the sands of today’s white desert.
This white desert spans approximately 275 square miles. With intense sunlight, it's essential to protect yourself from UV rays and choose the right time to visit. It's recommended to go either early in the morning or wait until dusk.
