Makoto Shinkai, often dubbed the “new Miyazaki,” caused a huge sensation in Hong Kong with his latest work, "Your Name." 1. Shinjuku Station South Exit
In the movie, Mitsuha, a high school girl from the countryside, is always fascinated by life in Tokyo. One of the scenes takes place at the south exit of Shinjuku Station. This area is one of the busiest and most vibrant parts of Tokyo, bustling with activity every day!
2. Shinjuku Police Station Roundabout Traffic Light
A scene featuring a roundabout traffic light appeared in the movie trailer. It's located in the skyscraper district of West Shinjuku. You can find it by walking from Shinjuku Station toward the Shinjuku Police Station. Be sure to look for the right angle—Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower should be visible in the background.

3. Yoyogi Station Platform 4
This is the scene where Mitsuha thinks she spots Taki at Yoyogi Station. In the movie, Mitsuha is sitting on a bench, but in reality, there are no benches at that exact spot, and it’s usually crowded with commuters.
4. Shinanomachi Overpass
This is one of the most iconic scenes in the movie. While similar overpasses are common in Japan, thanks to the film, now many people stop at the pedestrian bridge near Shinanomachi and pose by leaning over the railing, mimicking the male lead Taki’s pose.
5. Yotsuya Station
This is the wall in front of Yotsuya Station where Taki leans against—and it’s also the first meeting spot he arranges with his senior.
6. Suga Shrine
One of the most memorable images from the movie poster is the scene where the male and female leads cross paths on a red staircase. This location is inspired by Suga Shrine. However, the actual staircase is located in a residential area, lined with houses on both sides—so be mindful of noise levels when taking photos.

7. Starbuck’s Front Tiles at Shinjuku South Exit Station

Cross the footbridge, and you’ll see a Starbucks with a small set of steps right in front—that’s the place. It doesn’t feel quite the same on a normal day, so maybe visit when it’s raining!
