Its peel contains rubber, which can be used to make rubber products; the flesh is nutritious and can be eaten directly or used to brew wine; the seeds contain oil and can be pressed for oil; both the roots and fruit have medicinal uses, with heat-clearing and detoxifying effects, and can treat hernias.
