The Nantou Floral Carnival runs from December to February 28, themed "The Playground of Flowers," emphasizing that every area is a vast natural flower playground. Visit the "flower playgrounds" in various towns to admire flowers such as plum blossoms, orchids, and cherry blossoms, combined with the unique features of surrounding towns for a fulfilling and enjoyable journey.

A series of events for the Floral Carnival are kicking off: On January 5, there’s an orchid event called "Orchid Homage & Cherry Red Welcomes Spring" at Sun Moon Lake; on January 6, the Atayal Resort Village hosts the "Guoxing Bigfoot Fun Run," where you can jog along a flower-lined path dotted with maple, plum, and cherry blossoms while breathing in forest phytoncides. Meanwhile, the Liu Family Plum Garden holds a "Snow-Seeking Plum Blossom" event featuring indigenous song and dance performances, fun competitions, and free plum wine.

January 12 and 13: "Mutual New East Plum Blossom Viewing Season" in Ren’ai Township; January 26: "2019 Cherry Blossom & Winter Bamboo Shoot Festival" in Lugu Township; late January: "Lawn Head Cherry Blossom Festival" in Xinyi Township.

February features the "Sun Moon Lake & National Chi Nan University Cherry Blossom Festival" at National Chi Nan University, as well as the "Nine Tribes Cherry Blossom Festival" at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. From February 2 to 24, there’s also the 2019 Nantou Lantern Festival’s "Floral Sea Along the Muluo River."

This series of fun flower-viewing activities brings color and vibrancy to Nantou’s cold winter. Especially noteworthy are the Lawn Head Cherry Blossom Festival in late January and the Sun Moon Lake & Chi Nan University Cherry Blossom Festival and Nine Tribes Cherry Blossom Festival in February—popular cherry blossom spots for many each year, with their dreamy array of pink blooms.
