To tap into the domestic and international independent travel and backpacker markets, Fubon Group has entered the hospitality sector by launchingits self-owned brand“Folio Hotel 富艺旅”with its first property—Folio Taipei Da’an. Located in the city center, the hotel not only revitalizes 50-60-year-old buildings but also incorporates cultural and creative art elements, making it Taiwan’s first hotel with an artist-in-residence program. Guests can even find photographic works by 55 artists, including Jolin Tsai and Dee Hsu. The hotel is set to officially open in early August.

Folio Taipei Da’an made its official debut on the 26th. Fubon Hospitality Chairman Lee Chen-hua stated that the first Folio hotel was chosen for Da’an District because the site was originally earmarked for urban renewal and was formerly the dormitory for senior executives of the Cooperative Bank of Taiwan. Fubon Group acquired the property in 2014 through a bid. “Urban renewal projects usually take 5–7 years, but we didn’t want this piece of land to go to waste. We also hoped to create a unique community texture and culture, so we decided to transform this four-story apartment building with old Taipei’s historical and cultural significance into a hotel.”

Lee further noted that the entire structure of the Folio hotel retains its original exterior and framework. Architects Kuo Hsu-yuan and designer Huang Mei-hui were brought in to renovate certain interior spaces, reinforce structural safety, and infuse music and artistic elements. This ensures that Folio is not just a place to stay—every corner, from the outside in, becomes a work of art in itself.

Just as its name suggests, Folio is a hotel rich in artistic atmosphere. The hotel has a total of 57 rooms, and Fubon Hospitality has designated two of them to host long-term residencies for Taiwanese artists, turning them into art workshops. These are open to guests from 2–4 PM every Friday and Saturday, allowing travelers from around the world to interact with the artists. The featured artists change approximately every 2–3 months, making Folio Taiwan’s first hotel with an artist-in-residence program.

The 55 guest rooms are not just for “staying”—they are also exhibition spaces. Spearheaded by TV host Show Lo, the project brought together 55 celebrities including Dee Hsu, Kang Kang, Jolin Tsai, and the pop group S.H.E. Under the theme “Profound Taipei,” they captured their unique perspectives of the city through photography. Folio then displays these photographic works throughout each guest room.

Folio is set to officially open in August, featuring 57 guest rooms across 4 room types. The average room rate ranges between NT$3,200 and NT$4,400. After the official opening, a promotional rate starting from NT$2,888 (including breakfast for two) will also be available.

Lee also expressed optimism about the future of Taiwan’s hotel industry. Fubon Hospitality aims to add four more hotels within five years, including boutique hotels, leisure resort-style properties, and international hotels. The goal is to contribute to Taiwan’s presence in the global tourism market.
