Every year, surveys rank the world’s most livable cities. But it’s not just humans who need a comfortable living environment—animals do too. In Lithuania, a creative team launched a project called “Tiny Road Sign,” specifically designed to raise human awareness about other living beings.
The initiative focuses on placing signs in urban and small-town neighborhoods to promote ecological mindfulness. The team behind “Clinic 212” has designed unique road signs for four types of animals, each one guaranteed to bring a smile. One such sign, created for hedgehogs, is located in Vingis Park in Vilnius. The team cleverly used tape to create mini handmade crosswalks, crafting routes tailored to the tiny hedgehogs while also alerting drivers to watch the road—especially useful at night. The adorable, detailed, and lifelike signs paired with passing hedgehogs make for an irresistibly cute scene.
Additionally, in a park on Tauro Hill in Vilnius, where birds often gather, a sign depicting birds in flight reminds people not to disturb their habitat. In the backyard area of Vilnius’s Naujamiestis district, groups of stray cats frequently rest, and the sign there may encourage more people to feed them. The team even thoughtfully marked duck crossing points on lakes, showcasing their considerate creativity.
While these simple signs might not offer significant practical benefits to the animals’ lives, the thoughtful design at least adds joy to our own.
