In recent years, South Korea and Taiwan have both seen a wave of container-inspired designs, transforming old and worn-out containers into multifunctional spaces such as restaurants and shops. This container craze originally started in Europe and America, but has now spread not only to Southeast Asia but also to the Middle East, becoming the latest hotspot for Iranians.
Recently, a colorful club made of stacked containers has emerged in the mountainous region of Iran—Cube Club, which consists of three parts. The first section mainly houses dining spaces including a café, light meals, and a bar. The indoor area is divided by glass doors and extends out to an open-air dining space. On the other side is an office and entertainment area, featuring game tables.
Container spaces are generally not well-suited for Iran’s subtropical climate, as metal containers tend to heat up quickly. However, the design team made the most of the sloped terrain and constructed the entire venue using lightweight, eco-friendly materials. By utilizing glass curtains that allow natural light in while shielding against wind and sand, they successfully created this captivating container club.
