Christmas is a time to celebrate love. Beyond loving ourselves and those around us, we also care for our planet. Love isn’t just expressed through words — design can play a subtle yet powerful role too. This year, PMQ has prepared a large-scale Christmas installation called Jungle All the Way, which will be open free of charge from now until December 31. Members of the public can walk through it and even join in to “plant” a forest. The forest features local wildlife created by the local paper art collective Stickyline, delivering an important message. PMQ has also invitedGo Cupthe “Cup Exchange” programand several creative groups to host themed markets and workshops throughout the event period, all in support of a waste-free celebration and to share the joy of the season.
Architectural design studio AaaM oversees this eco-conscious Christmas installation that combines design with sustainability
This time, the role of design and engineering director for the Jungle All the Way Christmas installationwas taken on by architectural design studio AaaM , showcasinghow design is the key to solving problems,and how design and sustainability can be perfectly integrated.The team advocatesArchitecture as a Mmedium, caring about environmental sustainability and the creative development of cities. With sustainability as the core design concept, the team transformed over 15,000 recycled paper beverage cartons into components used to “grow” Christmas trees. The silver aluminum foil lining inside the cartons creates a sparkling tree effect during the day through different folding techniques. The team also made use of the cartons’ colors and patterns for decoration. At night, energy-efficient lighting brings the forest to life, adding a joyful festive atmosphere.
From now until December 31, 36 Christmas trees regenerated from paper beverage cartons will grow in the PMQ Courtyard, waiting for you to walk through the forest and experience it. The well-arranged and staggered layout of the forest not only creates a beautiful visual impact, but also reveals thoughtful design when viewed from the rooftops of PMQ’s two main buildings — the small trees together form the striking outline of a giant Christmas tree on the ground. Ordinary beverage cartons have been transformed through “design” into a stunning visual art piece.

Neglected resources are turned into unique gifts through the creativity of these groups, to be given to yourself or shared with loved ones.
