What we’re introducing this time is the “Yoshimatsu Onsen Village” in northern Kagoshima. As the name suggests, a place worthy of being called an onsen village certainly has its appeal. The Yoshimatsu Onsen Village refers to a cluster of hot springs scattered across the northern part of Yūsui Town. One of the springs, “Haraguchi Onsen,” has a history of over 100 years. Many locals here operate various public bathhouses and therapeutic hot springs. Visiting this area isn’t just about soaking in hot springs, but also about experiencing the local history.
Another highlight of the onsen here is the “Coffee Onsen”! The waters of the coffee onsen contain a high concentration of organic plant substances and are officially called “Moor Onsen.” It’s said to be especially good for the skin and also offers therapeutic effects for stress relief, joint pain, and muscle soreness. Yoshimatsu Onsen Village is actually one of the top destinations for “Coffee Onsen” in all of Kyushu — you definitely have to give it a try if you get the chance.
