Tired of traditional tofu pudding loaded with tapioca pearls, mung beans, or taro balls? One creative vendor had a wild idea: dice up seasonal fresh fruits, mix them with rich, handcrafted tofu pudding, then drizzle with sago and condensed milk. Though the combo may sound odd, it’s received an overwhelmingly positive response and become a thumbs-up worthy refreshment for beating the heat.

▲ A medley of rich toppings plus large, fresh chunks of mango and watermelon may seem like an odd pairing — but it's a big hit with netizens.

The shop’s most popular item is the “Mango-Watermelon Tofu Pudding.” Served in a white ceramic bowl bursting with color, the star ingredients are fresh Fangliao mangoes and Hualien watermelons. The oversized fruit chunks are so tempting they’ll make your mouth water. The vendor even turns the mango into a golden smoothie to replace the syrup — so what you taste is the natural sweetness of fresh fruit, not the cloying kind that quickly becomes sickly.

Take a spoonful and put it in your mouth: the slightly caramel-aroma handmade tofu pudding slowly melts, paired with super-refreshing mango and watermelon, leaving netizens unable to put their spoons down. A touch of translucent sago, sweet condensed milk, and fresh milk add diverse textures to this dessert, while the generous layer of mango smoothie at the bottom brings a cool, refreshing sensation.

This “Sao Douhua” located in Da’an District offers seasonal limited-edition tofu puddings. As early as mid-April, the shop capitalized on strawberry season by launching strawberry tofu pudding, driving customers wild. Come winter, exclusive flavors such as red bean and yam tofu pudding or sesame paste tofu pudding are also available.

▲%...the shop's unique concept...attracts a lot of local and tourist visitors, according to multiple media reports.

Though the shop is small, its strong reputation draws large crowds of locals and tourists, often resulting in a full house. Those wishing to try it are advised to arrive early or make a phone reservation to avoid disappointment.
