Yo's Home
Shulin Dongf Park playground, a new family attraction in New Taipei, is now open! Taiwan’s first “Galaxy and Planet-Themed Theme Park”, features a three-dimensional climbing frame shaped like aliens with two levels of climbing nets, resembling a secret base for kids, along with various play facilities. It’s a fun park full of imagination, and New Taipei’s distinctive parks just keep getting better!
■ Location: Fuxing Road, Dongf Li, Shulin District, New Taipei City (next to Yulin Junior and Senior High School)
■ Transportation: Take the train to Shulin Station, transfer to the bus headed for “Health Center” at the front station exit, and walk back one minute after getting off. For drivers, you can park on Da’an Road or Fuxing Road next to the park, where there are many parking spaces, then walk through the alley to the park.
A while ago, thanks to my friend Fei Ma, I learned that Dongf Park was under renovation and had been looking forward to its completion. Today, it’s finally officially open! Shulin Dongf Park is a small community park located next to a school, so transportation is quite inconvenient. There’s absolutely no parking if you drive here, so it’s strongly recommended to use public transport to visit.
The theme of Shulin Dongf Park is super cool—it’s an “interstellar adventure theme,” which is very appealing to kids who love space, enjoy a bit of imagination, and have a sense of adventure. As soon as you step into the park, the ground welcomes visitors of all ages with “astronaut images,” making it feel like everyone is flying into space together! Bringing Xiuge along, let’s go—let’s roam the stars together!

Board the rocket and get ready for takeoff. The brightly designed rocket has a flip-down sign reminding kids to read the game instructions and follow the rules before entering the space playground, so they can play more safely and enjoyably!

The large wave-shaped climbing frame is a great spot for kids of all sizes to burn off energy. We’ll have to bring Yo back to Shulin Dongf Park to play again sometime and get some good physical exercise!

The vibrant PU flooring features three types of swings: a single-seat swing, a diaper swing, and a particularly fun large 360-degree round disc swing. You can not only swing forward but also spin. Xiuxiu had so much fun—going from being a bit scared at first to laughing nonstop once seated. It shows just how appealing swings are to children!

The cool main play structure at Shulin Dongf Park makes its debut! With dazzling interstellar designs and bright patterns, it has slides on both the left and right sides, giving the feel of a really cool spaceship, and there’s even an alien UFO on top!
At first, I thought this super fun and oversized play structure was mainly about the two slides on either side, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the actual experience inside is completely different! The two-tiered colorful climbing rope nets offer a huge challenge—kids can crawl into the first layer of mesh and climb up, and there are also climbing ropes on the outer edges. It’s perfect for little Spider-Men. Trees Park, Fangyin Cultural Creative · Apophis Rehearsal Space, and Tainan North District Lide Park all have similar large climbing rope nets!
Seeing the big ball excited Xiuge—he batted it with one hand, rolled it with both, and even playing with the ball was a great way to burn energy!
Playing at distinctive parks has the potential to inspire kids infinitely. Every time Xiuxiu tries a new climbing play structure, he’s a bit scared at first. Fortunately, he’s willing to step out and try when encouraged. From initially being afraid to play to gradually following our guidance and moving forward.
“First step one foot down and stand firm, then move the other foot forward!” When scared, we don’t push. When the child is willing to try, we encourage them. Helping kids overcome psychological barriers through play, encouraging them to challenge themselves—that’s a huge step in their growth! Watching Xiuxiu play and seeing his progress, I couldn’t help but be moved myself.
On the second level, the large flat colorful rope net is the finishing line for kids breaking through their limits. Once they succeed, they happily crawl around on the net. The netting is tightly woven, so there’s no worry about little feet slipping through—it’s very safe!
The stone slide on the left side of the spaceship is a lot of fun. Auntie tried it herself—even wearing jeans, it’s still super slippery. So much fun! Under the slide is a wood chip surface, and you can smell the faint scent of wood in the air.
Xiuxiu prefers the right-side three-dimensional spiral slide. For little ones, not being able to see the height gives a greater sense of security, and it’s fun no matter how you slide!
Around the big UFO play structure is a large circular sandpit, complete with simple jumping stumps. There’s also a washing area nearby to accommodate kids who love playing in the sand.
Playing hide-and-seek at Shulin Dongf Park is also fun—the colorful pipe tunnels are great for crawling through!
Every corner is filled with interstellar images—the entire Shulin Dongf Park is a world of children’s imagination!
What’s special is that we found several wheelchair parking areas in the corners of Shulin Dongf Park. After visiting distinctive parks and inclusive playgrounds across Taiwan, Shulin Dongf Park is one of the few where we’ve seen designated wheelchair parking zones. Seeing such thoughtful design, I couldn’t help but want to thank the staff on behalf of children with disabilities. With distinctive parks blossoming everywhere and inclusive concepts integrated to let special-needs children play happily too, such goodwill warms the heart.
New Taipei City has more and more distinctive park playgrounds. Taipei is taking action—we hope central and southern Taiwan can follow suit to benefit children everywhere. Long live childhood! Remember to play and also protect the environment—take your trash with you and set a good example for the kids!
