Some restaurants take practical steps, such as offering free snacks or discounts, to encourage guests to put down their phones and enjoy their meals. Recently, the hotel chain Ibis has launched a thoughtful service to help guests escape the pressure of social media and fully immerse themselves in their well-deserved holidays, enjoying every moment to the fullest.
Nowadays, it seems like a trip isn’t complete unless you post photos on Instagram. As a result, people often “camera-first” — taking pictures of food before eating it or capturing scenic views before truly appreciating them. At the same time, these photos must stand out from others, showcasing just how exciting your journey is. Honestly, it’s not relaxing at all.
Ibis Hotels has now introduced a social media concierge service in Zurich and Geneva, where dedicated staff members manage guests’ Instagram pages. The personnel are reportedly Instagram experts who can thoughtfully create posts and photos for guests, so they no longer have to worry about social media chores and can relax and enjoy Switzerland’s lakes, mountains, and cuisine.
Interested travelers can book this service through a dedicated website, but the site is only available in German and French, and lacks detailed information about the service — such as whether guests need to share their Instagram login details with the hotel or how the service is charged. After all, is it really a vacation if you’re busy checking in, sharing, and liking all day?
