New York City in the United States is an international metropolis, familiar to many. To capture it in a fresh way, you need to put in some creative effort. This aerial photo, created by photographer Paul Seibert, showcases both the snowy winter and sunlit summer scenes of New York City, offering a strikingly unique perspective.

Seibert is a featured photographer for FlyNYON, a helicopter photography company based in New Jersey, which allows him to frequently conduct aerial shoots from helicopters. He specifically chose a morning after a snowstorm to shoot the winter scene, while the summer photo was taken one afternoon. Both images were captured using a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera with a 16-35mm f/2.8L lens.
Since one photo was taken at an altitude of 7,500 feet and the other at 6,500 feet — resulting in about a 1,000-foot difference — merging the two posed quite a challenge. Seibert revealed that he spent a significant amount of time on post-processing to ensure all key buildings in Manhattan remained intact and the streets were properly aligned.
He also mentioned that he initially only intended to combine the two photos, but later found that similar images were already quite common. He wanted something different, so he opted to blend the two instead. “My basic idea was to have snow in the foreground near the lens, and keep the sunlit areas in the distance warm. The only regret about this photo is that I couldn’t unify the tones of the river.”
