Summer is the peak tourist season for Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
, drawing countless visitors from afar. This small spot welcomes over 500,000 guests each year—an astonishing number, but after seeing it in person, you’ll understand why. At first glance, the waterfall doesn’t seem particularly remarkable, but the real magic lies behind it. Climb the metal staircase, step into the cave behind the falls, and you’re bound to get soaked. The path is a mix of mud and gravel, and without ice grips on your shoes, you’d barely be able to move. Behind the curtain of water lies a hidden world—a cavern far larger than expected. Looking out from within, the surging river rushes before your eyes while droplets splash against your face. The cave acts like a resonance chamber, amplifying the deafening roar of the waterfall. Another unique feature is that in certain months, the cave’s entrance faces the sunset direction, making it incredibly easy to capture stunning photos on clear days.

A World of Weird Wonders::Black Sand Beach
Iceland’s southern black sand beach is like a geological library, showcasing a variety of unique features. At the entrance stands a grand stone cliff, its contours and textures resembling a massive beehive. The rock wall curves inward, with jagged peaks at the top that look especially eerie under dim light. As you walk further, you’ll find many people taking photos—it’s the densest area of perfectly vertical basalt columns. These formations cascade like a waterfall, with thick pillars rising over a foot in diameter and varying heights interlocking. Many visitors even sit on them to rest. There’s also a second sea cave here, smaller in size and pitch-black inside. It feels like stepping into a hidden chamber—speak loudly and hear your voice echo, or listen as the waves bounce back, turning it into a natural concert hall.

Magnificent Beyond Words:Rainbow Falls
Skógafoss is located in the small southern town of Skógar, which is considered “small” because it has only about a dozen houses and a population of roughly 30 people. Yet, it’s home to one of the country’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls. With such fame, the town boasts several hotels to accommodate visitors. We stayed there and reached the falls in just five minutes. The vast waterfall cascades ceaselessly down a 200-foot cliff. The sheer power of the falls is overwhelming, with water spraying everywhere and leaving a lasting impression on every visitor. On the right side of the falls, a metal staircase leads to the top, where a short hike brings you to an observation deck. From there, you can see the rushing river up close, pyramid-shaped mountains in the distance, and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the entire gently sloping town.
