In the alleys near Lukang Longshan Temple, there stands an 80-year-old house built in 1931 (the 6th year of the Showa era in Japan). This Japanese-Western style building is a secondhand bookstore called "Book Collection & Joy Room," which boasts a rich collection of books. Its old-house charm has attracted many visitors.

The male and female owners of Book Collection & Joy Room majored in history and anthropology respectively. They fell in love with the place and bought the old house. Through their secondhand bookstore and teahouse, they share this historic spot with visitors. Whether you want to read, buy books, enjoy tea, or simply pass the time, you can slowly savor the moment in this old house.

Although the interior space is not spacious, it is filled with books. Visitors can immerse themselves in the fragrant ambiance and read their favorite secondhand books. However, despite being a secondhand bookstore, it also offers new books, and occasionally hosts new book launches and storytelling sessions by the owners.

Although Book Collection & Joy Room has recently attracted many tourists, the owners hope visitors won’t treat it as a sightseeing spot for quick visits or photo ops.
