Where to take your baby for a spring outing: The Water-Splashing Festival in Xishuangbanna
From April 13th to April 15th every year, the traditional Water-Splashing Festival is one of the most grand traditional festivals in Xishuangbanna. On that day, all Dai men, women, and children dress in festive attire, and women carry water to bathe the Buddha statues, cleansing away the dust and praying for blessings from the Buddha. After the bathing ritual, people begin splashing water on one another as a gesture of goodwill, hoping that the sacred water will wash away illness and misfortune and bring about a beautiful and happy life. Children can have plenty of fun during the Water-Splashing Festival and fully unleash their nature.
