Every year, many Taiwanese travelers visit Japan to see the cherry blossoms, and flight prices surge around the blooming period. The Japan Meteorological Corporation has released the first wave of predictions for the 2019 cherry blossom season. Those planning a cherry blossom trip to Japan should not forget to refer to this in advance.

Due to weather conditions, the cherry blossom blooming period in 2019 is generally earlier than in previous years. Taking Tokyo as an example, the buds are expected to open on March 22, and reach full bloom a week later on March 29. The earliest blooming is predicted in Kochi Prefecture around March 18, while the latest is in Sapporo, Hokkaido, expected to bloom on May 4.

Since the cherry blossom season is a peak travel period for Taiwanese tourists visiting Japan, it is recommended to check the dates early and book flights, accommodations, and itineraries in advance. Not only does this ensure availability, but booking early also offers more choices and better pricing. The later you book, the fewer options you’ll have — miss the 2019 cherry blossom season and you’ll have to wait until next spring.
