The world's largest tourism expo, the Berlin International Tourism Fair, has announced the 2018 list of the world’s Top 100 Green Travel Destinations, with three places in Taiwan making the cut—more than any other country in Asia.

The Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB) selects the world’s most recommended green natural eco-tourism destinations every year, and in 2018, Taiwan’s New Taipei Pinglin, Penghu Nanliao, and the Northeast Coast & Yilan Coastline made the Top 100 list.

1.Pinglin
Pinglin is an internationally renowned key production area for Taiwan’s Wenshan Baozhong tea and also the main water source area through which the Beishi Stream flows, nurturing rich ecological resources, a simple tea-farming culture, and the beauty of many mountain-town arts. Known as the backyard garden of Taipei, its scenery changes beautifully with the seasons.

2.Nanliao
Within Nanliao Village, there are also many art murals and installations themed around “a village of water and wind,” including fish sculptures and windmills. The village uses art to beautify the rural area, with artists using local materials as their creative medium. Visitors here can enjoy the beautiful coastal landscapes and experience the serene and peaceful atmosphere of this fishing village.

3.Northeast Corner
The Northeast Coast boasts lush mountains, clear waters, blue skies, and deep seas, with a rich variety of unique geographical landscapes. These include the Old Caoling Tunnel from the Japanese colonial era, the snow-white sandy Fulong Beach, the distinctive “parallel-coursed” residential houses, the snorkeling paradise of Maoluo Fishing Harbor, and the San Diego Cape Lighthouse at Taiwan’s easternmost cape.
