The Alishan Grassland Music Festival kicks off on August 13 – Free walk-in hot air balloon experiences available

The 2016 Alishan Summer Grassland Music Festival officially kicks off on August 13. The most anticipated event is the “Grassland Hot Air Balloon” activities on August 13 and 14. Visitors can take a hot air balloon ride at Niupuzai Grassland to enjoy aerial views of Chiayi.

The 2016 Alishan Summer Grassland Music Festival will be held at “Niupuzai Grassland.” Starting on August 13 and running until September 4, there will be music performances and market activities every Saturday and Sunday. Niupuzai Grassland, also known as the gateway to Alishan, is just over ten kilometers from Chiayi City and can be considered Chiayi’s urban park. The organizers noted that the series of events for the 2016 Alishan Summer Grassland Music Festival are aimed at promoting local characteristics, boosting industrial development, and fostering interpersonal connections.

During the festival, there will be different themed music events each week, along with picnics, hot air balloon rides, and stargazing movie nights. Additionally, the venue will feature a grassland market where visitors can experience tea, coffee, agricultural products, handicrafts, and gourmet food.

The most eye-catching event is the hot air balloon activity on August 13 and 14, which includes walk-in hot air balloon experiences and tethered balloon rides. The hot air balloon walk-in activity is free, with four sessions per day, each limited to 30 people. The tethered balloon ride costs NT$300 per session and can be signed up for on-site. Visitors can take a hot air balloon ride to enjoy aerial views of Chiayi City.

Registration: On-site registration, number cards distributed at 16:00, activity starts at 17:00
 Fee: NT$300 per session, experience duration 5-7 minutes (including transition time)
Capacity: Maximum 3-4 passengers per ride.
