Taiwan Culinary Exhibition Opens August 5th – Six Major Zones with Over 19 Themed Pavilions

The 2016 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition (TCE), now in its 25th year, will be held from August 5 to 8 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. This year, the scale of the exhibition has expanded to six major zones, with 200 additional booths bringing the total to 820, and more than 19 themed pavilions. According to Lin Sechen, President of the Taiwan Visitors Association, the 2016 event features the highest number of exhibitors in its history, and is expected to attract over 160,000 visitors, breaking previous records.

The six major zones are: Art of Food, Ingredients of Food, Utensils of Food, Journeys of Food, Companions of Food, and Education of Food.

Art of Food
This zone showcases chefs’ exquisite skills and artistic flair, featuring exhibitions and activities such as Seasonal Taiwan, Gourmet Windows, Culinary Chronicles, International Culinary Invitational, Indigenous Tribes Pavilion, Hakka Flavors, Mainland China Theme Pavilion, and International Theme Pavilions. There will also be popular discount meal vouchers eagerly anticipated by visitors.

Ingredients of Food
The Taiwan Agriculture Pavilion in this zone displays premium Taiwanese agricultural products and agri-crafts. The Food Journey & Agritourism Souvenirs area offers information and ticket sales for “food journeys.” The “Breeze & Bamboo County” and “Sunny Taiwan” pavilions introduce Taiwan’s sun-dried and air-dried food culture. The “Fermented Taiwan” pavilion uses high-quality local rice and fruits to brew a variety of distinctive beverages, offering a true taste of Taiwan.

Journeys of Food
The food exhibition specially features the Changhua Pavilion, showcasing nearly 40 local food stalls including famous Changhua snacks that have been beloved for half a century: Ximenzhangchang Hamburger, Fan’s Hamburger, Sandun Meat Rice (Sunshine Old Shop), Zhengzhangchang Hamburger, Chunfang Lamb Hot Pot, Old School Changhua Mochi, No Hunger No Sit Mianxianhu, Amei Sister’s Cabbage Rice… Allowing visitors to indulge in a wide array of authentic local flavors.

Companions of Food
Traditional gifts connect the strong sense of human warmth in Taiwan, becoming one of its most beautiful sights. This zone invites well-known gift vendors from across Taiwan, including OTOP “One Township One Specialty” programs supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, and happiness desserts promoted by the Industrial Development Bureau, as well as 16 specialty gift shops invited by Changhua County Government to showcase in the “Companions of Food” zone at the exhibition.

Education of Food
The “Education of Food” zone centers around the theme of “Eating for Health” and the philosophy of “Sustainable Food, Nourishing Taiwan.” It includes programs on children's food education, food miles – the journey from farm to table, biodiversity – exploring Taiwan’s native ingredients, integration of small farmers and chefs, ecological balance between food and the environment, as well as food nutrition and safety.
