Don’t get stuck in traffic jams on your way there—here’s a quick guide to the traffic controls for the Dadaocheng Fireworks Show

“2016 Taipei Riverside Music Festival – Dadaocheng Lovers’ Daywill be held in grand style on the 6th at Yanping Riverside Park and around the Dadaocheng Wharf. To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, traffic controls will be enforced on nearby roads on the day of the event. Please pay attention or consider taking public transportation instead.

Detailed traffic control information is as follows

Road Traffic Controls in the Vicinity:
The first phase of controls begins at 6:30 p.m. on August 6. The controlled area extends south to Zhongxiao West Road (from Tacheng Street to Huandao North Road), north to Liangzhou Street (from Huandao North Road to Yanping North Road), east to Yanping North Road–Tacheng Street, and west to Huandao South and North Roads (including the roadways). Vehicles will not be allowed to exit onto Huandao North Road from the eastbound direction on the Civic Freeway—drivers should exit earlier or continue across Zhongxiao Bridge. The second phase starts from 8:20 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., during which a checkpoint will be set up at the intersection of Chengde Road and Minsheng West Road, where westbound vehicles will be prohibited. Additionally, to avoid congestion, drivers are advised to avoid both Zhongxiao Bridge and Taipei Bridge between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Event Venue Area:
From 6:00 a.m. on August 6, vehicles will only be allowed to exit through Water Gates 3 and 5; starting at 6:30 p.m., both entry and exit will be restricted until 11:00 p.m. the same day. Water Gate 4 will be closed at 5:00 p.m. as an emergency access route. From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the day of the event, bicycles are prohibited from crossing or riding within the activity zone. Furthermore, starting at 2:00 p.m. on August 6, bicycle traffic at Water Gates 1 through 6 (including Evacuation Gate 5-1), the ramp under Taipei Bridge leading to the riverside park, and from 6:30 p.m. at the “Earth Reborn” overpass along the riverside bike path connecting to the Dihua Sewage Treatment Plant and Huandao North Road, will also be subject to controls.

Parking Controls:
The riverside parking lot between Water Gates 3 and 5 will be cleared and off-limits from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 6. On-street parking spaces along the riverside roadways will be canceled from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the same day. Sidewalk parking spots along Minsheng West Road (from Yanping North Road to Chongqing North Road) will be canceled and temporary parking will be prohibited from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 6. From 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 6, holiday yellow-line parking along Minsheng West Road (from Huandao North Road to Chongqing North Road) and Yanping North Road (from Minquan West Road to Zhongxiao West Road) will be canceled. Yellow-line no-parking zones and legally restricted temporary parking areas will have towing times extended until 11:00 p.m. on the day of the event. During the event, illegal parking enforcement will be intensified along Zhongxiao Bridge, Taipei Bridge, the riverside expressway, and surrounding roads, and slow-moving or loitering vehicles will be directed away.

Water Surface Controls:
Starting at 12:00 noon on August 6, the waters south of Dadaocheng Wharf and north of Zhongxiao Bridge will serve as the fireworks firing zone—boats are urged to stay clear of this area. From 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., docking will not be available at Dadaocheng Wharf.

Additionally, YouBike stations at MRT Beimen Station Exit 3, Dadaocheng Park Station, and Chungshan Hospital Zhongxing Branch Station will suspend service from 4:30 p.m. to midnight on the day of the event, with no bike rentals or returns available. On the event day, the Taipei City Government will provide shuttle buses connecting MRT Shuanglian Station to Dadaocheng Wharf Station on Yanping North Road (near Water Gate 5)—the operating hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (subject to crowd conditions), with a flat fare. MRT Tamsui Line and Songshan Line services will also increase in frequency to make commuting more convenient.
