As one of Taiwan’s top five haunted houses, Chiayi’s Mingsheng Haunted House became a Gym after being designated by the Pokémon game company. Even during Ghost Month in the lunar seventh month, it still attracts many daring netizens to catch Pokémon. According to users, rare Pokémon like Gastly can be found near the graveyard, and some have even spotted Gengar inside the haunted house.

No.9 Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts

The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts features a total of 37 public artworks, each serving as a PokéStop or Gym, attracting many players to catch Pokémon. The museum has even launched a special campaign: take a photo with any public artwork in the park, upload it to Facebook with a check-in, and include the artist and artwork name, then you can redeem an official cultural and creative souvenir at the service desk with your check-in photo！

No.7 Tamsui Old Street / Fisherman’s Wharf

New Taipei City’s popular tourist spot, Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, fits perfectly with the Water-type theme due to its proximity to water bodies. It became a hot Pokémon-catching spot shortly after the game launched. Nearby attractions like the wooden observation deck and Fisherman’s Stage are great for catching Water-types such as Magikarp, Horsea, and Psyduck. After Pokémon GO launched in Taiwan, nearly all train stations banned the game to prevent accidents, and Banqiao Station is no exception. However, the Uni-President Hankyu Department Store on the station’s second floor has become a prime Pokémon-catching spot for trainers. In addition to free air-conditioning, some businesses continuously scatter sakura petals from 2 to 6 PM to draw crowds, so trainers don’t have to chase Pokémon around. No.5 Taipei Songshan Airport

Before boarding your flight, besides shopping at duty-free stores, now you can also catch Pokémon！With free air-conditioning and fewer people than parks or theme parks, you can enjoy a more relaxed Pokémon-catching experience without sudden crowds when rare Pokémon appear. However, the Civil Aeronautics Administration has regulations in place: to maintain ground safety, playing Pokémon GO is prohibited in controlled areas and on the tarmac within the terminal. As soon as Pokémon GO launched, trainers could be spotted catching Pokémon in parks across Taiwan. In Taipei’s Sihyuan Park (No. 4 Park), located in Zhongyong area of New Taipei City and near Zhong’an Street, there are eight PokéStops within just 400 meters. At night, with rows of cherry blossom trees lining the park, trainers can easily catch plenty of Pokémon by finding the right “spot,” making it one of the most popular Pokémon-catching parks in Taiwan.

No. 3 Taipei Zoo

While many places have issued statements banning Pokémon GO gameplay, Taipei Zoo took the opposite approach. Not only did it issue an early statement welcoming visitors to play Pokémon GO at the zoo, but it also thoughtfully prepared a guide map showing the locations of its six Gyms and 69 PokéStops, showing great care that warmed the hearts of trainers.

No. 2 National Taiwan University

As Taiwan’s top university, National Taiwan University has always been a great spot for nearby residents to take walks and exercise. Although it’s currently summer vacation, many university students remain on campus, making it one of the favorite Pokémon-catching locations as well. Its location in the Greater Taipei area and excellent transportation — you can easily take the MRT here for a walk and Pokémon-catching session. You can even visit National Taiwan Normal University nearby and catch Pokémon in the whole area.

The top spot isn’t a tourist attraction, but a bus route instead. Dubbed “the best Pokémon GO–catching bus in Taiwan,” Taipei’s BRT Route 307, which only costs between NT$15 and NT$30, comes with air conditioning and requires no walking — truly a super comfortable and efficient Pokémon-catching trip. The bus route passes by PokéStops often surrounded by cherry blossoms, such as those along Banqiao Cultural Road, Wanhua’s Ximending, and Taipei Main Station. One user tested riding the entire 307 route and caught 51 Pokémon and visited 143 PokéStops within two hours, plus hatched a 5 km Egg. With such rewarding results, it’s no wonder it has become the most talked-about spot online.
