On July 24, reporters learned from the Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau that to reduce mountaineering accidents, Gansu Province has recently stipulated that all activities involving the climbing of independent peaks between 3,500 and 6,000 meters in altitude must be approved by the relevant authorities.

According to the "Urgent Notice on Strengthening Mountain Climbing and Mountain Outdoor Activities" recently issued by the Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau, any team planning to climb independent peaks between 3,500 and 6,000 meters within Gansu Province must obtain review and approval from the Gansu Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association. After securing the activity approval document, they must file it with the Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau and register with the sports administrative department of the city or prefecture where the activity will take place before the climb can proceed.

When applying to the relevant departments, climbing teams are required to provide corresponding activity materials such as insurance certificates, emergency response plans, the distance to the nearest road, and an equipment list.

Shi Shengtai, Deputy Director of the Gansu Provincial Sports Bureau, stated that the introduction of this regulation aims to further improve the management system for mountain climbing and mountain outdoor activities, ensuring the personal safety and legal rights of participants in these activities.

It is reported that Gansu will also implement supervision over outdoor sports and leisure activities.
