At the 2012 Asia Outdoor Exhibition, eye-catching outdoor gear was everywhere. During an interview, I happened to spot the renowned car brand Smart also exhibiting at the event.

“Regular cars need gasoline, while electric vehicles require charging,” explained a staff member. “Charging stations for electric vehicles typically use 400-volt high-voltage electricity. With a dedicated plug, it takes a maximum of 3–6 hours to charge the vehicle up to 60%. This type of vehicle can also be charged using a regular household outlet, which takes about 8 hours to fully charge.”
Judging by the enthusiastic response from visitors eagerly trying out the vehicles, the day when electric cars become part of everyday life is truly not far off.
