25,000 colorful blooms sway in the wind – Enjoy a sea of flowers while cycling along the riverside

Until late September, Taipei’s Baiying Left Bank Riverside Park has entered its flowering season, with 25,000 pots of heat-resistant summer flowers now in full bloom. Purple angelonia, pink portulaca, and yellow lantana... these vibrant floral displays have transformed the plaza green space next to the Shizi Baseball Stadium into a stunning sea of blossoms.

The flower sea design next to Shizi Baseball Stadium draws inspiration from the tidal rhythms of the Keelung River, using ribbon-like flower carpets to outline the shimmering movement of the water. The Taipei Water Resources Department stated that the best time to view the flowers extends until late September. It is recommended that visitors admire the panoramic view of the flower sea from the top of the embankment or along the bike path, feeling the breeze while overlooking the lush Qilin Mountain range ahead, taking in the full scenery of the Keelung River.

In addition to the flower sea, Baiying Left Bank Riverside Park is adjacent to Shizi Island. The Water Resources Bureau recommends exploring the island’s three major wetlands via the Shizi Island loop cycling path. The old and new seawall wetlands are rich in birdlife, and the wetland interpretation pavilion atop the seawall offers excellent guided information for learning about the local wetland ecology. At low tide, the tidal flats of Toudao Wetland and She Liu Wetland reveal bottom-dwelling creatures such as fiddler crabs and mudskippers, showcasing the vibrant beauty of the wetlands.

Public transportation
Take the MRT to Jiantan Station, transfer to bus Red 7 and get off at Yongping Street Intersection. Walk toward Section 346, Tongxi West Street, then head to the embankment and climb the stairs up to the top where you’ll find it on your left.

By car
Heading south: Take the National Freeway No. 1 toward Shilin, connect to Provincial Highway 2乙, exit the ramp and turn right onto Tongxi West Street. Go straight and after passing Shezheng Road, use the embankment ramp to access the road outside the embankment. It’s about 1 km to the destination.

Heading north: Exit the National Freeway No. 1 at Huandao North Road Interchange, connect to Section 3 of Huandao North Road. After crossing Chongyang Bridge, it becomes Section 6 of Yanping North Road. Before the Zhoumei Expressway, turn right onto the embankment service road. It’s about 500 meters on the left.

Riverside park embankment parking lots: At the intersection of Shezheng Road and Section 2 of Tongxi West Street, after crossing the embankment ramp to the road outside the embankment, go down the slope and you’ll see them — two lots located about 1 km from the flower sea.
