Typhoon Dandelion has severely impacted Japan, not only causing Narita Airport to temporarily close and widespread flooding in the Kanto region, but also affecting one of the world’s most dreamlike destinations—the Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido. Due to partial collapse caused by the typhoon, its iconic beauty has been lost. The Biei Town Tourism Association announced that the site has been temporarily closed, with no confirmed reopening date yet.

The Blue Pond in Biei gained overnight fame in 2012 when Apple used its image as the default desktop wallpaper for the MacBook Pro. Additionally, the pond's bottom is rich in aluminum hydroxide deposits, which cause the water’s color to shift with changing light, making each visit a unique experience. It has since become a must-visit attraction for travelers to Hokkaido in recent years.

Due to the typhoon, the Blue Pond in Biei is currently closed. Travelers planning to visit soon are advised to have alternative itineraries.
