Getting to Mysterious Coast isn’t easy. You must first climb the stairs from the high platform next to Shuiwei Fishing Port by Shitoushan Park, then enter through a cave entrance to reach your destination. It takes quite some effort, but once you emerge, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking scene. The sea-and-sky panorama is a feast for the eyes. Don’t miss the massive rock here — while it takes some time to climb up, the photos you’ll get are absolutely stunning.

4. Candlestick Islets
The Candlestick Islets have a lovely nickname: “Husband and Wife Rocks.” Originally part of Jinshan Cape, they gradually separated from the cape over time due to persistent wave erosion, forming a sea arch-like reef. Their candlestick-like appearance earned them their name. Whether you shoot from the viewing platform at Zhongzheng Pavilion or gaze out from the rocks, it’s a great spot for photos. Even if you just want to enjoy the seascape, it’s still well worth the visit.

Camel Peak shares a similar naming charm with Elephant Trunk Rock, as both are named after animal shapes, showcasing the wonders of nature. Camel Peak consists of multiple sections — such as the vast white slanted rock face, the small openings of the coastal defense bunkers, the tip of the camel’s “nose,” or the ridgeline at the summit — all offering excellent photo spots. The bright white appearance makes you feel like you’re right on the camel’s back, so this rock beauty is an absolute must-shoot.

6. Laomei Green Reef Troughs
As spring arrives, vibrant greenery brings life to the originally grayish-black stone troughs along Taiwan’s northern coast. The rustic Laomei community in Shimen District, New Taipei City, is known for its unique “stone trough” landform. From mid-March to mid-May each year, large patches of seaweed attach to the stone troughs, while white waves flow through the crevices. The green stone troughs resemble mist-shrouded mountain peaks, making them a popular local attraction. However, with the increasing number of tourists, the green algae have been trampled upon, leading to the damage of some of the marine vegetation and the scenic beauty. Visitors are reminded to avoid stepping on the green stone troughs when taking photos to help preserve this natural wonder for the future.
