After nearly five months of trial operation, Taiwan’s first international hot spring hotel brand, the “Lili Marriott Wensley Resort Yilan,” officially opened on the 23rd. Avoiding the competitive landscape of the Jiadong hot spring area, the resort is located in Yuanshan Township, Yilan, combining Yuanshan Hot Springs with leisure agriculture to create a tranquil vacation retreat. It is also the first Wensley hot spring resort following the merger of Marriott International and Starwood.

The Lili Marriott Wensley Resort Yilan features a total of 85 guest rooms and suites, along with six standalone villa pool residences. Reflecting the geographical characteristics of Yuanshan, the design draws inspiration from early hot spring settlements, using double eaves, upward-angled roofs, and staggered slopes with varying ridge heights to present an Eastern Zen architectural landscape. The design also offers rainproof and heat-insulating functionality. The hotel’s entrance lobby is designed with a paper airplane concept, symbolizing the flight heritage of Yilan’s three historic airports. Additionally, artworks by several Taiwanese artists are displayed, highlighting the integration of Yilan’s local character with the global brand of an international hotel.

Kuo Chi-Kang, Chairman of Lili Marriott Wensley Resort Yilan, stated that Lili Marriott will leverage the local characteristics of Yuanshan, combining the natural landscapes of Qilan and Mingchi with the natural resources of Yuanshan Hot Springs to develop in-depth tourism in Yilan. Tang Ming-Chiu, General Manager of the resort, added that Yuanshan Township boasts high-quality hot spring water, and he hopes it can become a hot spring destination on par with Jiadong.

He noted that the same day last year marked the official merger of Marriott International and Starwood, and the resort’s opening one year later holds special significance. Mr. Dolp believes Taiwan has many wonderful things to share, and through Lili Marriott Wensley, he is confident that Yilan can not only become a global and international landmark but also a representative vacation destination.
